Why Noise Cancelling Earbuds Are Good For Your Ears
If you enjoy listening to music while running, exercising or even while commuting, you need to invest in noise cancelling earbuds for your music player. This will not only significantly improve your listening experience, it will also protect your ears from damage. Without noise cancelling earbuds, listeners are forced to max out the volume on their earphones to drown out external noise. Continuously doing this can not only cause pain, but can cause permanent damage to our ears.
Technology and Design of Noise Cancelling Earbuds
Music enthusiasts, frequent flyers, or those who work in very noisy environments will find that noise cancelling earbuds will meet their needs perfectly. Noise cancelling earbuds employ active noise control technology to block lower frequencies so that only higher frequencies can be heard. In addition to active noise control, noise cancelling earbuds are designed with noise isolating features. This means that they extend into the opening of the ear to block external sounds. These make noise cancelling earbuds great for athletes and fitness buffs because they’re usually small enough to be completely comfortable and fits snugly enough not to fall off even during strenuous exercise.
Thanks to this ANC technology and noise isolation, noise cancelling earbuds can effectively block the rattling, clacking, and hissing at train stations and airport terminals, the drone of your chatting fellow passengers or office mates, industrial noises at your workplace and the baby crying incessantly next door. With noise cancelling earbuds, you can listen to your favorite piece without maxing out the volume and hear every note clearly.
Popular Noise Cancelling Earbuds
Sony DMRNC22. Like most Sony audio products, these noise cancelling earbuds have excellent audio quality. This is due to its 13.5mm drivers which make for significantly improved sound reproduction. The downside to the 13.5 mm drivers is that the drivers require a lot of power to run so these noise cancelling earbuds come with a battery box for the triple A battery required to run the unit. It is compact enough though so it seems a small enough trade off for great audio. The hard-plastic earbuds are great at blocking external sound, but are a bit uncomfortable. This can be remedied though by purchasing foam earpieces for better comfort.
ATH ANC3BK. These noise cancelling earbuds from Audio-Technica has a power switch that controls both the power and the ANC mode. This is nice for when you want to be able to hear lower frequency sounds for safety purposes. Like the Sony noise cancelling earbuds, these are powered by one triple A battery and it’s nice that an extended adapter is included with the purchase.. Although these ATH ANC3BK noise cancelling earbuds do not do as well as Sony in blocking external sound, good fit is easier to achieve with the bundled four different sizes of earbuds.
Two other companies, Shure and Bose offer great noise cancelling earbuds. Price points for their noise cancelling earbuds are higher than Sony and Audio Technica models although the feature sets are also more extensive. If you are looking for more than the basic, then you can check out noise cancelling earbuds from Shure and Bose.
